In order to have persistent references to individual muon digits, we are likely to need an indexing scheme. This is a general problem for which we need input from the database group. Here we make a guess at what will be required.
Each muon technology container will be required to return a compact unique index for digit it contains. The container must also be able to return the digit associated with an index. The latter operation should support the deferred read of muon modules.
