Release notes DIAL release 1.20 David Adams 03jun05 The following changes (from 1.10) appear in DIAL release 1.20. 1. Addition of TextDataset and make_text_datast enabling users to create applications with text output rather then being restricted to ROOT files. 2. Full credential delegation. All grid activities such as file transfer or globus job submission are now done using the credential of the submitting user rather than the credential useed to run the service. This credential is also made available as part of the job so that it can be used during data processing. 3. New job implementation ScriptedJob makes it possible to add a backend processing system to a DIAL scheduler without adding any code to DIAL. Dietrich is looking at this for gLite/LCG and Frederik for ATLAS production. 4. When a subjob fails, the remaining running subjobs are killed instead of being left indefinetely in the running state. 5. LSF jobs that time out of bjobs are now handled properly. 6. Results are not posted after every subjob append--this was too slow for ntuple results. 7. ATLAS release 10.0.1 and root 4.03.02 are now used. This avoids incompatibilities with root 4.02.
