MinutesProofMay1
Introduction
Minutes of a meeting to discuss role of Proof at Tier3/Tier2 facilities.
- Note: This is following up from the last November's Tier2/Tier3 workshop at SLAC we discussed options for supporting analysis at various facilities. See the Facility planning session of that workshop here. One of the issues was to consider introduction of PROOF (+xrootd) services at Tier2 facilities by the summer. We discussed as a first step writing down a skeletal plan on how to get there.
- Coordinates: Thursday, 12:30 pm Chicago / 1:30 pm BNL / 7:30 pm CERN; Phone: (605) 475-6000, Access code: 735188
- Attendees: Rob Gardner, Asoka DeSilva, Ofer Rind, Sergey Panitkin
PROOF + Condor
Neng will update us on recent developments with the PROOF
team on managing PROOF sessions with Condor, and other
topics relating to dataset management. See further:

Federation
We discussed a bit the concepts behind proof+xrootd federation, and options for using this approach to connect Tier3 facilities with others which have xrootd file systems.
Ann Arbor workshop
Discussed the US ATLAS Tier2/Tier3, May 27-28th 2008 - location: Ann Arbor:
http://indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=27666. Will reserve a session to discuss proof-xrootd testbeds and data management issues.
Progress at Triumf
Asoka described on going work with his 7 node farm at Triumf. Considering scheduling options for the farm - are there instructions for a Condor setup.
- Would like a simple authentication scheme for Tier3 sites. Access can be controled via an xrootd access list.
We discussed security and authorization issues a bit - there is information on how to make proof and xrootd as secure as possible in the proof twiki, see:
http://root.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/ROOT/XpdAuthConfig.
