LFCMeetSep10

Introduction

  • Meeting of the sub-committee to address LFC migration in the US cloud.
  • Coordinates:
    • Wednesday, Sep 10, 10am Central/5pm CERN
    • Phone: (605) 475-6000, Access code: 735188; Dial *6 to mute/un-mute.
  • Background: SubCommitteeLFC, FileCatalog
  • Attending: Charles, Rob, Patrick, Marco, Hiro, John, Xin, Paul, Dantong

LFC + MySQL server install at UC and remaining VDT packaging issues (Charles)

LRC migration procedure, script (Hiro)

  • UC has been migrated. It was about 8 hours. There were some failed files. Tracking these down.
  • UTA in progress.

LFC + MySQL server install at UTA (Patrick)

  • Installed at UTA - VDT install, minor differences from Charles'. Probably can re-do if necessary with daemon account.
  • Got voms file from glite rpms.
  • There was a problem creating the logfile (had created directory)
  • Created a lfcmanager user account (but not group account)
  • Issue: the user and group IDs used by LFC are virtual (nothing to do with Unix IDs). A DN to VOMS group mapping.
  • Both Charles and Patrick would like to have both vanilla grid, and voms proxies. This does require a little more support.
  • What about DQ2 site services? Is this working with voms proxies.
  • Would like to get a feel for the LFC, clean utilities.

LFC worker-node client testbed at BNL (Xin)

  • Updates or issues?
  • Installed worker-node client, dq2-client, and Paul defines a new queue at the Panda level.

Pilot integration (Paul)

  • last week:
    • Pilot is basically ready. Using file info from LFC for size, checksum. At the moment using dccp at BNL.
    • Use LFC commands for registration, setting file size, etc - working fine. Got a test job to complete.
    • Now LFC down for Oracle maintenance.
    • Cleaning up code now.
  • Believe this work is complete now. BNL_ATLAS_Test being used. Will scale up a bit.

http interface for LFC (Jean-Philippe)

LFC-based data management tools (Patrick, Charles)

  • Using lfc clients and python API.
  • At UC, will use pool-cleaner tool (dCache)

AOB

  • Next meeting: discuss at Tier2 / Tier 3 workshop @ BNL.
