U.S. ATLAS Tier 2 Computing Centers

Three of the planned five Tier 2 centers for the collaboration were selected and situated strategically across U.S: Northeast Tier 2 consists of (Harvard University and Boston University), Midwest ( Indiana University and University of Chicago), Southwest ( University of Texas at Arlington, Oklahoma University, University of New Mexico, Langston University).

Tier-2 facilities take a range of significant roles in ATLAS such as providing calibration constants, simulation and analysis. Tier-2 facilities also provide analysis capacity for physics working groups and subgroups, and all of the required simulation capacity for the experiment as well.
