Experimental Atlas Release

The BNL PAS group is responsible for integrating POOL into Athena, the ATLAS offline software network. The recent ATLAS and POOL releases use different versions of external software, such as root, MySQL, XercesC. An experimental ATLAS software release was created that uses the same versions of external software as POOL does. This release is based on ATLAS release 6.0.0 and is located in /afs/usatlas.bnl.gov/software/dist/trials/6.0.0.

The following versions changes of external packages were made:

List of CERN-specific problems.

AtlasSEAL uses python2.2 executable but it does not depend on PYTHON (python environment is provided through PYTHON glue package of Gaudi). As a result /usr/bin/python2.2 is picked up from PATH variable at CERN lxplus machines. This executable fails to create LCG dictionary, while executable from standard Atlas location (in sw/packages) is working. The AtlasSEAL developer (Christian Arnault) is informed about this problem.

Script /afs/usatlas.bnl.gov/scripts/setup_cmt_usatlas.[c]sh is recommended for setting CMT environment for Experimental Release:
