Brookhaven National Laboratory

Large Conference Room, Medical Department, Building 490

August 27-29, 2003

If you intend to attend the computing meeting at BNL, please send e-mail to Jackie Mooney (mooney@bnl.gov). Please do so by July 31, 2003. Please let her know:

A tentative agenda can be found here

A tutorial on atlas software will be given on Wednesday. Details of the tutorial can be found on the agenda page. The morning session is a tutorial on how to use ATLAS software to simulate and reconstruct events. The afternoon session is on how to write an analysis or reconstruction algorithm in the context of the ATLAS framework. Some limited C++ experience would be helpful for the afternoon session.

The tutorial is hands-on, but we have only a limited number of laptops available. For this reason, we encourage you to bring your own laptop with a wireless card. You need to have basic capability: Web-browsing capability, be able to open X-windows and be able to log into (using ssh) the BNL cluster by opening an x-terminal. If you are running Windows, you will need exceed + F-secure SSH client or equivalent. Please let Jackie know if you intend on attending the tutorial and if you need us to provide you with a laptop.

Please note that you MUST have an account on the US ATLAS facilities. If you do not have one, please fill out this form.
